NATURAL MEN’S HEALTH: TRAVEL AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM - SUPPLEMENTS
For those who suffer sinus and bronchial problems, travel can severely affect the immune system, causing an outbreak of symptoms. If you suffer from continual colds and flu when you travel or return from travel, this probably means that your immune system is fighting a virus or bacterial bug picked up on the plane or in the country you are visiting. Over the last few years, I have treated an increasing number of men with these types of complaints, most of whom find themselves doing significant amounts of travel.
To cope with the impact travel has on the immune system, I recommend that you follow the prevention program for sinus problems and bronchitis (see pages 65-70). Be sure to take your supplements away with you, even if your schedule only allows you the time to take them once a day, preferably in the morning after breakfast.
Supplements
The following supplements have helped many of my clients who travel frequently for business.
An immune system tablet consisting of vitamin C and
bioflavonoids plus other herbs such as cat's claw, echinacea and astragalus. These are available from your local health store or naturopath.
One vitamin B complex tablet per day with at least 50 to 100 mg of each of the B vitamins.
A 100 mg capsule of coenzyme Q10 once or twice a day.
